There are always a lot of rumors regarding upcoming smartphones, some turn out to be true with the launch of the phone and some, well, just remain rumors. Since last few days, the web was abuzz with rumors of a budget OnePlus smartphone, OnePlus X2, a successor to the good ol’ OnePlus X.
Rumours stated that OnePlus is working on a new device with a 5.5-inch display, 4GB RAM, and 32/64GB storage options and will be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor. Leaks also hinted that the phone will feature face unlock feature and will have a dual rear camera setup while a 16-mp camera will be present on the front.
Among others, there were claims about the presence of Dash charge, a 3000 mAH battery. A price range of $235-$265 was being speculated, making it a perfect budget Android smartphone and it was suggested that this phone will launch with the upcoming flagship phone, OnePlus 6.
People did start trusting it and a lot of media agencies highlighted this news as well. However, not all the rumors are true and while normally brands do not reach to such rumors, Carl Pei from OnePlus did react. He clarified the status of OnePlus X2 on twitter while reacting to a post from GSMArena.
Nope. 🤷♂️ https://t.co/hsFBhDFZ8J

While a lot of other brands may not respond to such fake news, Pete Lau dismissed the news altogether calling it a “Fake News”. He also termed these type of articles ClickBait categorically denied that OnePlus is not working on any X2 let alone a budget Android smartphone.
So not all of these rumours are to be trusted and should always be taken with a pinch of salt!
