Huawei, the world’s third-biggest smartphone manufacturer after Apple and Samsung, has also forayed in Virtual Reality by launching multiple versions of a Gear VR-like headset. These versions will be compatible with company’s latest flagship devices like P9 phones and Mate 8.
Huawei claims its VR solution is the first to offer 360-degree sound field on the go (with headphones). The headset looks almost like Gear VR from Samsung in terms of design. On the device, though Huawei VR has a touch panel, a back button and volume keys on the right for communicating with the app. In case you wear eyeglasses, you will not need to wear your glasses while using the VR goggles, It comes with adjustable lenses that can accommodate myopia of down to -7.00.
In terms of specs, Huawei VR comes with 20ms low latency and 95-degree field of view. While it’s 96 degrees on Samsung’s Gear VR and 110 on the HTC Vive plus and Oculus Rift), with the added benefit of an anti-blue light filter to protect your eyes.
At launch, Huawei VR will offer over 4,000 free movies and over 40 free games, along with over 350 panoramic images and over 150 panoramic tours. Although It’s early days as Huawei has not revealed the price and launch date, so we’ll just have to keep an eye out for a future development.
