Google has announced the Google Pixel Buds A-Series under the budget-friendly series for its true wireless earbuds category. This is the same strategy the brand follows for its Pixel smartphone range, offering an affordable ‘A’ alternative to the flagship model.
Google Pixel Buds A-Series features
The earbuds come with custom-made 12mm dynamic drivers. They feature vents to improve spatial awareness by reducing in-ear pressure. Dual beam-forming microphones try to ensure that the user’s voice stays in focus during calls – it does so by keeping the outside noise at a low level. Each bud weighs a mere 5g and comes with a non-removable stabilizer arc.
The outer surface of the buds features a capacitive touch control mechanism to control the device. The IR proximity sensor stops music playback when the buds are removed from the ears. The company promises five hours of playback time or 2.5 hours of talk time on a single charge. With the charging case, these values are expected to rise to 24 hours and 12 hours respectively. A 15-minute quick charge can offer around three hours of playback.
The Pixel Buds A-Series leverage the Fast Pair technology to quickly connect with Android devices over Bluetooth 5.0. The IPX4 certification makes them water and sweat resistant. There is no active noise cancellation, but the Buds A-Series come with a technology called Adaptive Sound, which automatically adjusts the volume based on the surroundings.
Google Assistant support is available on tap which offers spoken directions and real-time translation across several languages.
Pricing and availability
