Samsung Galaxy S7 launched in India at Rs 48,900, with free Gear VR; S7 edge at Rs 56,900

Samsung has launched its flagship device Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge in India at Rs 48,900 and Rs 56,900. These devices were launched in MWC 2016, Barcelona very recently making this as one of the fastest launches in India.

Both the devices, Galaxy S7 and S7 edge will be available from March 18th. Prebooking will be available till 17th March and Samsung is offering Samsung Gear VR headset for free for those who pre-book the phones. Both, Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge devices come with a QHD display, however the standard Galaxy S7 has a 5.1-inch screen, while the S7 Edge has a 5.5-inch curved edge display.

Both the phones are powered by an Exynos 8890 Soc with 4GB of RAM, instead of a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 chip set, and have 32GB of storage, which can be expanded upto 200GB via a microSD card. Rear camera is a 12MP Dual-Pixel camera with a f/1.7 aperture lens, while the front camera or the selfie camera is a wide-angle 5MP camera. According to Samsung the Dual-Pixel technology allows perfect shots even in low-light conditions.

Both Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge have an ‘Always-On Display and are IP68 water and dust-resistant. The Galaxy S7 comes with a 3,000 mAh battery, the S7 edge has a 3600 mAh battery. Both phones support fast-charging and wireless charging. Both the devices come with Android Marshmallow out of the box and have a fingerprint housed in the “Home” button.

What is unique with the devices is that Samsung is offering a host of services like Concierge and other exclusive privileges where users can book tickets, order flowers apart from getting pick and drop services for the devices in case you need them to be repaired. Vodafone is also offering double data offer for its Vodafone Red users on the phones.
