Micromax yesterday announced a new addition to its regional language based Canvas Unite Series- Micromax Unite 4 Plus. The newly launched smartphone will come with the upgraded Indus OS 2.0. The Indus OS 2.0 was available for the first time on Micromax’s two recently launched smartphones- Unite 4 and Unite 4pro.
Micromax is aiming at targeting 300 million first-time smartphone users in India who are willing to move to smartphones over the next 3 years but haven’t because they are uncomfortable using a smartphone in English.

Priced at Rs. 7999/-, the Canvas Unite 4 Plus not only offer a variety of regional language benefits powered by Indus OS 2.0, but also offers latest innovations in the smartphone category such as fingerprint sensor, all-metal body, 5 inch HD IPS display, 4G connectivity amongst others. The device is equipped with a 5-inch, HD IPS display. The phone also offers an 8 MP rear camera and a 5MP front camera for all the selfie aficionados and snapchat addicts along with a 2500 mAh battery. Unite 4 Plus comes with a 2GB DDR3 RAM and 16GB internal memory along with a 1.1GHz quad-core processor.
The new smartphone comes with a refreshed OS-Indus OS 2.0, a smartphone ecosystem in 12 regional languages, including the newly added Urdu and Assamese. The Indus Keyboard in the Unite 4 Plus has a hybrid keyboard feature, which allows users to type in a mix of English and regional languages using the Hybrid Keyboard. It also has patented word predictions, matra predictions and auto-correction features offering a user-friendly smartphone experience.

The OS is also equipped with an inbuilt runtime transliteration feature that runs even without any internet connectivity. Indus Reader, the Text-to-Speech feature, allows users to translate English text into audio in any of the offered six Indian languages; Hindi, Tamil, Malayalam, Marathi, Bengali and Telugu. This function works on text on the browser, WhatsApp and SMS, empowering people to talk, type, and text in their own native language.
Another translation feature offered in Unite smartphones through the Indus OS is the patented Indus Swipe feature. It allows users to swipe right to translate from English to regional languages and vice versa and also to swipe left to transliterate. The Unite 4 Plus comes with home screen design with direct access to system apps that are personalised on the basis of the consumer’s usage allowing the consumers to access 80% of the most used features and apps in the first two screens.
The Voice Feedback option allows users to hear the name of the icon they are pressing on the main home screen, offering simplicity and accessibility to those with such special needs. to download and pay for apps without email IDs and credit cards.
