The JioPhone announced by Mukesh Ambani led Reliance Jio has already made people wonder as to how would the actual JioPhone, the cheapest 4G phone would look like and What are the JioPhone Specifications? However, the 4G feature phone that was announced a few days back at the Reliance AGM is not available to purchase any time soon. This phone was highly anticipated as there were rumors that Reliance Jio would launch a 4G VoLTE enabled feature phone priced at Rs. 500. However, JioPhone dubbed as “India Ka Smartphone” by Mukesh Ambani was announced at a pricing scheme that would further disrupt the Indian Telecom industry.
As per Reliance Jio, there are almost 78 crore mobile users in the country and out of these, 50 crore users still do not have access to the fast 4G internet and cheap 4G phones. Hence to upgrade these consumers from slow 2G or 3G internet, Jio plans to offer cheap 4G internet along with the cheapest 4G phone, the JioPhone.
How to buy JioPhone:

The booking for JioPhone will start from 15th August, however, that will be in a beta testing mode. Very few select users will get a chance to get the JioPhone under the beta phase.
Prebooking for JioPhone will start from 24th August. In case you’re interested in prebooking JioPhone for yourselves, you can do so by going to MyJio app, in case you have a Jio sim already. You can also visit a jio retailer near you or book JioPhone online by going to the official website and register for JioPhone updates.
Remember, Jio is only accepting bookings for JioPhone as of now, actual deliveries may start in September or even later, on a first-come-first-serve basis.
JioPhone Features and Specifications
The JioPhone looks like any other feature phone, however, it will come with a number of apps and interesting features. Since its a feature 4G phone, the JioPhone will have a 2.4-inch display and physical key pad. As per GOI’s directions, the JioPhone will also have a panic button built in. It will have expandable storage through microSD card, and FM radio, among other features. Jio 4g feature phone will support dual SIM functionality and will come with a 2-megapixel rear camera and a VGA front camera as well and Bluetooth connectivity. The JioPhone has also been tipped to come with a 4GB of internal storage, and 512MB of RAM.
Jio will soon add NFC support to the JioPhone to allow SamsungPay like tap and pay solution and will support UPI payments, and debit and credit card payments making the JioPhone, the cheapest NFC enabled phone apart from being the cheapest 4G phone. RIL also announced that the JioPhone has been made in India by Indian engineers.
Reliance Jio Phone Price
The Reliance 4G feature phone is priced in such a way that the “effective price of the Jio Phone is Rs. 0”. As per the announcement made by RIL’s Chairman Mukesh Ambani, interested customers can buy JioPhone by depositing a refundable security deposit of Rs. 1500. This amount can be refunded after a period of 3 years, however, customers will have to return the used JioPhone handset back to the company. He stated that the amount collected is just to avoid any sort of misuse of the scheme or data.

- Rs. 153 Recharge
- Rs. 309 Recharge
- Sachet Recharges of Rs. 54 and Rs. 24
JioPhone users will have to pay just Rs 153 every month which includes the cost of the phone as well. All voice calls and SMSes will be free on JioPhone. The Rs. 153 plan will also offer 500MB free 4G data every day. The company also introduced two small recharge plan of Rs 54 and a two-day plan of Rs 24. These sachet recharges will carry the all the same features.
Users can also choose a higher plan i.e. Rs. 309 plan that offers them all features of the Rs. 153 plan and also the support for mirroring your screen on a TV, via a cable that can be purchased separately. This mirroring will even work on CRT TVs.
