Along with the announcement of its budget segment phone, the Honor 7x, Honor also announced another smartphone the Honor View 10, globally. It was first launched in China last week as Honor V10. The highlight of the phone is its AI-based features and the dual rear cameras.
The Honor View 10 comes with a 5.99-inch full-HD+(1080×2160 pixels) IPS LCD display with an 18:9 aspect ratio. It is powered by a flagship lever SoC, HiSilicon Kirin 970 SoC with its own NPU (neural processing unit) for AI-based tasks coupled with 6GB of RAM.
Talking about the NPU, it enables a facial unlock technology, like the one present on the iPhone X however, Honor is using a VCSEL projector to map the 3D form of the user’s face instead of laser projection used in iPhone X. The Honor View 10’s sensors produce a map with 300,000 points in 10 seconds. This technology will be helpful in securing payment-level authentication and unlock the smartphone in 400ms. Sharper and steadier images, better selfies, AI-accelerated translator and Smart Tips are few other features of NPU.
Honor has been able to squeeze the home button on the narrow Bezel just below the large display and the phone does come with a 3.5mm audio jack, which, unfortunately, most of the companies are omitting.
On the optics part, the Honor View 10 comes with dual rear camera setup with a 16-megapixel RGB sensor along with the 20-megapixel monochrome sensor. The camera is supported by an Artificial intelligence engine that identifies 13 different types of scenes and objects and automatically adjusts the camera settings to get a perfect shot. It also has a 13-megapixel front-facing camera with A.I selfie portraits and face unlock.
The phone comes runs on Android 8.0 (Oreo) with Emotion UI 8.0 on top and comes with a 3750mAh battery with 5V/4.5A Super Charge fast charging technology that can charge from 0 to 50% in half an hour.
