Taiwanese tech brand Asus today extended its Zenfone 3 series in India by launching two variants of its budget-centric Zenfone 3 Max smartphone. These two variants are, 5.5 inch (ZC553KL) and 5.2 inch (ZC520TL), priced at INR 17,999 and INR 12,999 respectively. The former will go on sale from Wednesday itself across physical stores and online marketplaces. The latter will become available to buy from the end of November and will be available in Glacier Silver, Sand Gold, and Titanium Gray color variants.

Zenfone 3 Max comes with a vast improvement in design and performance compared to the previous Zenfone Max and Zenfone Max 2016 (Review). Both the variants come with a large battery 4100 mAh, a feature of “Max” range of phones from Asus, a hybrid dual-SIM slot, a fingerprint sensor on the back. These devices run on Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow with the company’s ZenUI 3.0 skin on top.

The new Max also features a metal unibody with 2.5D curved glass design. The battery in the Zenfone 3 Max will provide 38 days of standby time and 17 hours of talk time, claims Asus. The Zenfone 3 Max will support reverse charging like the previous generation Zenfone Max.

The ZenFone 3 Max (ZC553KL) comes with a 5.5-inch HD display with a resolution of 1080*1920 pixels and is powered by a 1.4GHz octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 processor. It comes with a 3GB of LPDDR3 RAM and 32GB of internal storage expandable up to 128GB via microSD. For the photography enthusiasts, the Asus ZenFone 3 Max bears a 16-megapixel rear camera and an 8-megapixel front camera with wide-angle lens.

The slightly smaller variant, ZenFone 3 Max (ZC520TL) comes with a 5.2-inch HD display with a 720*1280 pixel resolution and is powered by a 1.25GHz quad-core MediaTek MT6737T processor. It also comes with 3GB of LPDDR3 RAM and 32GB of internal storage expandable up to 32GB via microSD. The Asus ZenFone 3 Max (ZC520TL) bears a 13-megapixel rear camera and a 5-megapixel front camera.

The Zenfone 3 Max (ZC553KL), at this price range, will compete with the likes of Lenovo Z2 Plus or the Le Max 2 and both the phones boast a very powerful hardware compared to the Zenfone 3 Max. It would be interesting to see how the device fares in the market as the Zenfone 3 (review) although performs amazingly well and is one of the most beautiful looking device also received a negative feedback due to its pricing.
